How to improve the lighting of your room? Tips & Hacks

How to improve the lighting of your room? Tips & Hacks

Are you tired of experiencing the old vibe of your room? Is the lighting of your room bright enough to capture your mind? Out-dated shades that seem dull or rough? Or lack of proper light fixtures?

Well, while opting for a light one should know the purpose first, short, be clear about the utility of the light. You can sort this out under three categories- Light Fixtures, Lamp Shade, and Room lamps. If you want a bright look for your sofa or chair, a lighting fixture might not be a good idea to look at. If you want to make up your room for an event or a party then a room lamp might not be sufficient. Or if you want to give an aesthetic look to your room a lighter lampshade might not be a good choice. Hence, set your mind and choose the light according to your needs.

Question yourself as to where you want to set the light. Is it going to be for the living room or the study room? Or for interior decoration or an event? Is it supposed to be vivid or light? Or reflective or focused? A brighter and more focused light helps you to read easily without creating an adverse effect. Accent lighting highlights the interior and decor of your room and matches your expectations. Lighting the overall room can be possible if ambient lights are taken into consideration.

Kinds of Light

You can improve the lighting of your room with lights having gallons of purposes

Here are some finer details you need to pay attention to while selecting the light for your room :

  1. Look for the number of light bulbs and the amount of light that particular light offers.
  1. Choose an appropriate lighting focal point. A greater focal point lighting is suitable for larger spaces, such as chandeliers. For smaller spaces one can go with floor lamps or vintages.
  1. The Distance of reflection of light to an object or an area. Check whether the light reaches to your expected object or not.
  1. Check the influence of light as the darker surface or area absorbs more light than the lighter surface area.
  1. Choose the lower kelvin temperature bulb. They often give yellow shade. While a higher-temperature bulb has a more white or blue light.
  1. Check whether the bulbs are provided with proper shielding or not. If not there could be more chances of getting it broken.
  1. Look for the styling of the lamp. Does it radiate the light downward, upward, sideways, or in all directions? Is it provided with a larger lampshade or not?
  1. Refer to the light which has a full range of color representation. This enables you to cover the overall room and give a tinted look.
  1. Be careful with the light fixtures. Go with proper wattage and a bright lamp. Most of the lamps for decor purposes are made with low wattage which too showcases the low quality of the lamp. Also for smaller spaces, low-wattage lights could be used to occupy fewer square feet.
  1. Wherever possible use dimmers. Dimmers can immediately change a room's vibe and help you to save electricity.
